Special tour to Anapia

Anapia is one of the islands located in the smaller part of the lake, also called “Wiñaymarca”, near the border with Bolivia.
In the language of the Aymaras, originating from one of the pre-Inca cultures, Wiñaymarca means “Eternal People”.

The island is surrounded by high mountains, just like the Cordillera Real.
It surprises with breathtaking landscapes and, thanks to its geographical situation, disposes of a microclimate.
Its inhabitants mainly live from agriculture, cattle-breeding and fishing.
Thanks to these activities ancient customs, traditions and knowledge can be preserved.
The island lies in a region where there is no mass tourism and so you can be part of the people’s traditional way of life.
It is a place of peace and harmony with nature where you can relax and forget your daily life for y moment.

We would like to invite you to spend a few wonderful and unforgettable days in this little paradise beyond mass tourism.

Day 1

In the morning we leave Puno in direction to the port.

The route leads along Lake Titicaca with its precious landscapes.
Then we will have a little break in Yunguyo.
After a short visit we get to the port of Punta Hermosa and continue our trip by boat organized by local boatsmen from Anapia.
After more than an hour we reach the archipelago of Anapia.
After setting foot on the main island we are welcomed by our guest families in their houses.

Day 2

After breakfast you have the opportunity to do a sailing trip, sailboats are an everyday means of transport for the locals.
Then we visit the island of Yuspique which is inhabited by vicuñas originally brought from Sillustani.
After this great sailing tour we go on a two hour hike crossing the island where we are able to admire beautiful landscapes, plants and birds among this wonderful lake.
This is certainly one of the most emotional moments of the voyage because the Cordillera Real with its 6,300 meters offers a unique scenery thanks to its size and the permanent change of color caused by the sunrays.

The whole time you spend at Lake Titicaca will be impressed by this unique landscape.

After the hike we will get to a beach and relax: In this moment we will taste a typical regional dish before returning to the port of Punta Hermosa to get back to Puno.

Transfer after the tour

We take you the the bus station or to the airport. Please inform us a day in advance in order to organize your transfer.

The islanders‘ houses are rustic and simply furnished which makes them a special place and a unique experience.
The accommodation consists of a double room without private bathroom.
The houses are always clean and warm blankets are provided sufficiently.
The guest family houses may be located further away from each other.
